The physical realm and digital world has come to a crossroad thanks to the latest collab between World Table Tennis (WTT), PICO, and Intel.

PICO x Intel WTT E Smash 2025 (1)

The PICO x Intel WTT E-Smash 2025 is a virtual reality competition set to debut alongside China Smash 2025 at Beijing’s Shougang Park. The event, created in partnership with PICO and Intel, aims to merge the heritage of table tennis with the possibilities of immersive esports.

The competition will unfold across three stages, beginning with global registration from August 25 to September 2, followed by global online qualifiers from September 4 to 14, before culminating in the finals on October 5 at Shougang Park. Fans attending China Smash will also be able to experience PICO’s dedicated VR zone from September 25 to October 5, offering ten days of interactive content.

Matches will be played on Eleven Table Tennis, a VR title developed by For Fun Labs and widely recognized as the benchmark for virtual table tennis. The game features a millimetre-precise physics engine and recently introduced a Mixed Reality mode, enabling real-world spaces to be transformed into competitive arenas.

Intel will provide the computing backbone to ensure stable global connectivity, while PICO delivers the hardware and immersive technology to support gameplay at scale. Together with WTT’s expertise, the partners are establishing what they describe as a new competitive ecosystem that brings together athletes, gamers, and fans.

Running alongside the traditional China Smash 2025, which will feature competitions in five categories, including Men’s and Women’s Singles and Doubles plus Mixed Doubles, the E-Smash event is positioned as an extension of the tournament by adopting the same idea towards a different market.
