Welp, ASUS Malaysia just dropped their new ASUS Gaming Series laptops, and they’re clearly aiming to shake things up without overalienating its ROG department through some of these lightweight yet powerful 16-inch machines with simple designs.
To start, there are 2 models – Gaming V16 and Gaming K16. Both of them weigh just 1.80 kg and are under 1.89 cm thick, which is impressive for gaming rigs but allows easy transportation without overbearing the user, which I think college students who move frequently around for different classes will definitely appreciate.
Under the hood, the V16 is the more powerful of the two. It runs on an Intel Core 5 210H processor and packs an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 GPU alongside 16GB DDR5 RAM and 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD for adequate 1080p gaming while the K16 is slightly more compact and uses an Intel i5-13420H with an RTX 3050 together with 16GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD.
Both share the same 16-inch IPS display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, Full HD+ resolution (1920 x 1200), and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. Other than that, the webcam’s a bit different – 1080p for V16 and 720p for K16, respectively.
Cooling isn’t an afterthought either, as each laptop features up to two fans and heat pipes for better thermal control, and they’re designed to stay quiet even during intense use, as we’re looking at a combined 70W TDP for CPU and GPU performance.
They also meet the MIL-STD 810H military-grade durability standards – the bread and butter “protection rate” these days. And lastly, ASUS bundles Office Home 2024 and 3 months of PC Game Pass, so you’re ready to work and play right out of the box.
Price and Availability
The ASUS Gaming V16 goes for RM3,999 while the K16 is at RM3,499, both hitting shelves on April 25 across online platforms and offline retailers in Malaysia.
