The National Development Council, Kaohsiung City Government, and Taipei Computer Association (TCA) have announced they will be hosting this year’s Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE) from March 18 to 22.

2025 SCSE x Net Zero City Expo

Hosted at 2 different locations, which are the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center (March 18-21) and Kaohsiung Exhibition Center (March 20-22), they are expecting participants from 59 countries and regions, 138 cities, and 2,806 overseas attendees with the top 5 visiting countries being Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan, and Hungary. Notably, a delegation of over ten Ukrainian city leaders will participate, with special events such as the “Ukraine Recovery and Reconstruction Business Opportunities Forum” and international matchmaking sessions planned to explore Taiwan’s role in Ukraine’s rebuilding efforts through smart technology.

Additionally, the debut of the “Smart City Global Co-Creation Pavilion” aims to foster collaboration between Taiwanese enterprises and global partners, integrating smart city solutions for international markets such as Japan’s NTT, Singapore’s Singtel, Thailand’s AIS, and the IOWN Global Forum, to showcase all-optical networks, smart streetlights, and smart city applications. Meanwhile, winners of the System Integration Award, such as SYSCOM Group and Wave-In, will present their successful international projects.

As per tradition, the expo will be joined by leading companies such as Acer Group, ASUS, Chunghwa Telecom, Far EasTone, Foxconn, MiTAC, SECOM, SYSCOM Group, Tatung, Taiwan Mobile, TECO, and Quanta who will be presenting their latest AI-driven solutions to drive further advancements in smart transportation, healthcare, building, and energy management.

Another good piece of news from The Ministry of Transportation and Communications is the introduction of the “Low-Carbon Mobility Pavilion” featuring the Taiwan EV Power Supplement Alliance revealing smart charging station standards and applications, while companies like Foxconn and Master Bus will exhibit their latest electric buses. The integration of large EV batteries with virtual power grids will also be explored, highlighting emerging business opportunities for electric bus operators. Furthermore, the “Smart Startups Program” will feature 115 startups from 11 accelerators worldwide, showcasing innovations in smart technology and green sustainability.

To accelerate Taiwan’s net-zero transition, the inaugural “Urban Energy Transition Award” will recognize the energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, and resource recycling efforts of 22 counties and cities, based on government open data and local net-zero initiatives. Pingtung County and Kaohsiung City will receive awards in the “Energy Transition” category, while Kinmen County and Taipei City will be recognized for “Circular Resource Promotion.” These local governments will present their achievements during the exhibition.

In general, the “Digital and Green Transformation” theme emphasizes AI applications, smart governance, energy efficiency, virtual power plants, net-zero sustainability, and global collaboration to help Taiwan take yet another big step in digital and net-zero transformation.
