SEMICON Southeast Asia 2026 is making its return, and this time it’s landing back in Kuala Lumpur at MITEC from May 5 to 7, gathering experts and partners from the semiconductor space.
Under the ‘Transform Tomorrow’ theme, over 20,000 innovators, policymakers, and engineers are expected to come together and talk about where things are headed, especially around AI, smart manufacturing, sustainability, and workforce development. For Malaysia, they are leaning into the momentum of becoming a strategic pillar in semiconductor manufacturing and resilience by moving further up into design, advanced packaging, and more innovation-led manufacturing.
The event is also structured with a delicate balance – Dedicated tracks on AI and intelligent manufacturing, sustainability discussions tied to real energy and efficiency concerns, and talent programs aligned with Malaysia’s goal of training 60,000 engineers by 2030. On top of that, there are focused discussions on advanced packaging and heterogeneous integration, which are becoming essential for next-gen chip innovation.
Meanwhile, the business side of things will see the Suppliers Sourcing Programme and Handshake@SEMICON grouping companies into the same room to move deals forward. MIDA is also running targeted forums and seminars, including ones focused on digital twin adoption for SMEs, which is a clear push to bring local suppliers up to global standards.
With the E&E sector pulling in RM28.5 billion in approved investments in 2025, this signals that global confidence is still very much intact. But more importantly, the strategy now isn’t just about maintaining relevance – it’s about reshaping its role in the global supply chain. That’s where initiatives under NIMP 2030 come in, with a deliberate push toward higher-value activities and stronger ecosystem integration.
Young rising stars and startups are also part of the conversation, with programs like TECH Zoomers and collaborations with UKM to give students real exposure to industry expectations and future job roles.
