Samsung Malaysia has announced the arrival of its latest generation high-performance M.2 NVMe SSD drive in the form of the Samsung 990 PRO.
Infused with the electronic giant’s own V-NAND flash chips and new proprietary controller, the 990 PRO is capable of reaching sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,450MBps and 6,990MBps respectively to become one of the fastest PCIe 4.0 drives in the market right now while hosting up to 55% higher performance in random IOPS over the older 980 PRO for a faster and better storage throughput.
Power efficiency has also been improved across the board by up to 50% which resulted in better thermal control and output. With the help of the new nickel coating on the controller and heat spreader to remove toasty energy, the 990 PRO can perform at its best in most situations and if it is not enough, a similar model that comes with a heatsink will surely tackle all of those high-intensity and extensive period of reads and writes for the most brutal use cases.
