ROOMIE has launched what it says is Malaysia’s first integrated payment gateway built specifically for the hotel and tourism industry, allowing guests to pay for services such as room bookings, room service, laundry and on-demand entertainment without leaving their preferred chat or booking channel.

The new gateway is now live for travellers from key markets including China, India, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. It supports familiar regional payment methods such as Alipay, UPI, TrueMoney, LINE Pay and GCash, helping international guests pay using platforms they already know instead of going through traditional credit card checkout.

ROOMIE says the integrated payment flow has helped increase conversion for in-hotel payments by 40%, compared with industry cart abandonment rates of around 80%. Guests can also order snacks, drinks and on-demand movies through chat, with orders only processed after payment is completed. This helps hotels reduce cancellations and no-shows while creating more opportunities for upselling.

The platform brings payments into the wider guest journey, with support for hotel bookings, mobile check-in and check-out, and guest communications across WhatsApp, Facebook and hotel CRM systems. ROOMIE says its system also provides compliance and security measures for guest chats, profiles and payment information.

The platform has been deployed across more than 100 hotels in Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, with clients including St. Giles, Wyndham, Hard Rock, Frasers and Resorts World. ROOMIE has also achieved ISO security certification for data protection and information security, addressing concerns around guest data protection and Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act.

Looking ahead, ROOMIE plans to double its current base of 100 hotel clients across Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam over the next 12 months. The company has also recently signed a contract with a hotel group covering around 1,800 rooms, which it describes as one of the largest single hotel-room volumes handled by a hotel technology provider in Malaysia.
