The 2.4 GHz wireless dongle is slotted in the controller so that you won’t lose it easily.

Design

GameSir T1s

First thing first, the design. At the first glance, the GameSir T1s has a lot of similarity to a Sony DualShock 4 controller, except with the missing touchpad. If you’re into Xbox One’s controller ergonomics. GameSir does have other models that inspired from Xbox One controllers’ design, namely the T2a and G4.

GameSir T1s

Speaking of ergonomics, the whole T1s has faux leather wrapping that gives a surprisingly good holding experience. The soft-touch pleather surface has a smooth texture on it and felt just right in the hands.

GameSir T1s

Turning on the T1s and the face buttons are illuminated. The face buttons have Xbox’s ABXY schematics instead of PlayStation shapes. Since Windows, Android and several other platforms are following the ABXY face button layout, so this should not be an issue.

At the top left corner is the LED battery life indicator.

Button Feel

GameSir T1s

After trying the controller on multiple genres of games, while we have no qualms about the joystick and D-pad, however, we can’t say the same to the face buttons and shoulder buttons + triggers.

The face buttons have significant longer travel distance and that will affect the way you react in-game. I appreciate the tactile feedback from each keypress, however, there is a slight delay for the button to bounce back into position due to the added travel distance. If you’re playing any kind of game titles that would require rapid button mashing, you’ll probably need some time to get used to this.

That brings us to the shoulder buttons and triggers, they felt mushy and short travelled. To be honest, I like the silent operation it offers but a trigger button with short travel distance can be quite challenging to use if the game takes the trigger’s analogue input, ie racing games.

Multi-Platform Support

GameSir T1s

As such, the controller is natively supported on:

  • Windows PC (7/8/10)
  • Android devices (4.0 and above)
  • Sony PlayStation 3
  • SteamOS

Now, here’s the main reason why you would be interested in this controller, it supports multiple platforms especially with the smartphone dock for the best smartphone gaming experience. The dock itself is a rather simple spring loaded mechanism and it could take smartphones with display ranged within 3.5-inch~6.0-inch (16:9), or up to 6.5-inch for 18:9 display ratio.

Worth mentioning is that the holder has rubber padding to avoid scratching the phone’s chassis.

Battery Life

GameSir’s website has stated a single full charge would provide up to 18 hours of non-stop gaming. While we didn’t marathoned a game for 18 hours straight, but at least throughout our testing period, we manage to squeeze over 12 hours of battery life by using the 2.4 GHz dongle. Meanwhile, somewhere around 8 hours of battery life through Bluetooth connectivity.

Final Words

GameSir T1s

When we published this review article, the GameSir T1s can be purchased from Lazada at RM 170. Quite a steep price if you’re getting it just for mobile gaming, but still, if we were to compare it to other reputable models such as Logitech F710 (RM199), the GameSir T1s has a lot more to offer while being RM 29 cheaper. For instance, Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone holder.

Like what we mentioned in the review, the controller is close to perfect. If you’re in the market looking for a casual gamepad that could be used on PCs and Smartphones, do give this a try.
