Here we have a brand new case from Cooler Master. It is a pretty fantastic case in itself – but this MasterCase H100 is an ITX case. We’re very familiar with ITX cases since our colleague have dealt with such cases for a long, long time.

The new Cooler Master MasterCase H100 is meant to be a budget-oriented ITX case – but how well does it actually perform? Here’s our overview of the MasterCase H100.

At first glance, the case itself looks like a hybrid between the COSMOS C700P and the MasterCase H500P. Mixing design cues from both of them together and cutting it down to a quarter of its original size, you get the MasterCase H100.

The frame itself is actually quite okay… given that if you screwed everything in. The brace that is immediately visible after taking off the left side panel. That is crucial to the integrity of the case itself.

When we dismantled everything, we found out that the MasterCase H100 has a few weird design choices. The right side panel is absolutely not meant to be removed as it is screwed down and has plastic latches. Just keep that in mind.

As for the mounting options, the MasterCase H100 only allows ATX power supplies. Yet, both side panels do not have holes for the power supply to breathe. Hence, the power supply fan will have to compete for fresh air with the CPU cooler.

That might not be such a big issue thanks to the humongous 200mm RGB fan at the front that is included with the MasterCase H100. this is the exact same fan found on the MasterCase H500P, by the way.

Because of the case’s short body, it has limited GPU options. We tried the RTX 2060 Super and that didn’t go well. We ended up going for a Galax RTX 2070 Mini card instead.

You have a total of 4x 2.5-inch storage disk mounting points, or you can opt for 3x 2.5-inch disks with one more 3.5-inch disk. That’s rather generous for an ITX case, actually.

In terms of I/O at the front, you get the individual audio jacks and also 2x USB 3.0 Type-A ports. I honestly do wish for more USB ports though.

The MasterCase H100 is definitely not a bad case, though it seems like there are a lot of cut corners with big compromises. For example, cable management is an issue here since the only available free space is beside the power supply at the top of the case, which will be visible from the outside since there is a mesh cover.

Of course, the most important selling point of the MasterCase H100 is the handle at the top. There is a slot for you to put your fingers in and take the entire case wherever you go. However, the issue is that there are plastic scaffolds inside that will bite into your fingers. Given that a PC case’s weight mostly comes from the hardware itself, it’s definitely not going to be easy carrying the case around with that handle.

Overall, I feel like this is more like a MasterBox series of budget-oriented cases rather than a MasterCase. Only the left side panel and the frame itself is metal. Everything else is plastic. Cooler Master Malaysia has told us that it will be priced “around RM249”, but unconfirmed as of now.
