NVIDIA has announced it will be deepening its partnership with SK Group, the conglomerate behind SK Hynix, through the signing of a series of LoIs that outline a strategic collaboration worth more than US$500 billion.
The agreement brings together long-term memory supply, AI infrastructure development, and future expansion plans, with SK Hynix continuing the supply of advanced HBM memory for Team Green’s AI platforms while both companies also work together on future memory technologies.
The news is complemented with another reveal under SK Telecom, as they are planning to build a massive 2GW AI data center locally utilizing NVIDIA DSX AI factory platform that runs the soon-available Vera Rubin family of computing hardware equipped with HBM4 memory manufactured by the Korean giant. The first phase of the data center is expected to begin operations in 2027.
The companies said the new AI infrastructure will support sovereign AI initiatives, enterprise AI workloads, physical AI, and agentic AI applications across South Korea and the wider Asia-Pacific region. NVIDIA and SK Group also plan to continue expanding AI infrastructure together beyond the initial deployment.
Industry estimates suggest the installation could eventually house thousands of NVL72 VR200 racks along with hundreds of thousands of Vera CPUs and Rubin AI GPUs, though the final numbers will depend on the facility’s design and power efficiency.
The NVIDIA DSX AI Factory platform serves as a complete blueprint for building AI-focused data centers, combining accelerated computing hardware, high-speed networking, software, storage, cooling, and power infrastructure into a unified platform designed to maximize AI performance while improving energy efficiency. Since SK Telecom has yet to reveal the exact configuration or power usage effectiveness (PUE) of the facility, the final scale of the deployment remains unknown.
