While the availability of RTX games still appears to be very limited, rumor of NVIDIA’s upcoming GeForce RTX 2060 is already spreading on the internet like wild fire. According to the latest rumor, NVIDIA will be announcing its new Turing TU106 GPU based GeForce RTX 2060 this January 7th, 2019 at a surprisingly attractive price of $349 for the Founders Edition model.

Specifications (TBC)

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 specifications

If we refer to the leaked specifications in the table above, we can have a rough idea on what to be expected from the GeForce RTX 2060. Unlike what’s mentioned in the past rumors, the GeForce RTX 2060 will have its RT cores and Tensor cores for the upcoming RTX games as well.

Design wise, the GeForce RTX 2060 Founders Edition will feature two cooling fans, full cover metal backplate. You’ll also find display output (two DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI that is similar to the higher end Founders Edition cards from NVIDIA – GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, GeForce RTX 2080 and GeForce RTX 2070. The leaked photos also shows that the GeForce RTX 2060 comes with a 8-pin PCIe power connector.

Performs Closely to a GTX 1070 Ti

Apart from the photos and specifications, there are also leaked numbers on games benchmark at 1080p and 1440p. The leaked benchmark results shows the average FPS of a number of AAA titles running on an Intel Core i9-7900X test system paired with 16GB DDR4 memory.

By taking a closer look at the performance numbers, we can see that the GeForce RTX 2060 is performing closely to a GeForce GTX 1070Ti. Other than the raw performance, there are also leaked numbers on its performance with Ray Tracing and DLSS enabled:

  • Battlefield V: RT Off: 90 FPS
  • Battlefield V: RT On + DLSS Off: 65 FPS
  • Battlefield V: RT On + DLSS On: 88 FPS

If the leaked benchmark results is accurate, the GeForce RTX 2060 will probably be the bang for the buck RTX card for gamers who is on a tight budget but still wish to experience the RTX features when more RTX games are made available.
