MSI Malaysia has finally opened preorders for the upcoming gaming handheld device MSI Claw.
Fighting against the famous Steam Deck and other AMD-powered handhelds from brands like ASUS and GPD, MSI decided to go for Intel instead in the form of the 14th Gen Intel Core Ultra CPUs. It is further aided by 16GB LPDDR5 RAM (Upgradable to 32GB) and up to 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD so this is basically a “handheld laptop” of the latest generation so to speak.
The screen is a piece of 7-inch 16:9 panel with touch support that refreshes up to 120Hz with the entire system powered by a 53WHr battery. Other than that, the range of I/O is just okay – one of each microSD reader, Thunderbolt 4, 3.5mm audio jack.
But you do get to enjoy the WiFi 7 connection out of it so you can quickly download games off Steam or Xbox Game Pass and then enjoy the controller layout with a 6-axis IMU vibration motor for some decent feedback.
Since it is running Windows 11 Home, it basically means that you have the full suite of Windows features including the ability to play Android emulators (Gacha game moment for real).
Price and Availability
Two SKUs are available to choose from – Either the Intel Core Ultra 7-equipped version for RM3,999 or RM3,499 if you prefer the Core Ultra 5 variant instead.
As long you preorder from March 9 – 21, you’ll receive a bundle for free containing a Travel Case, a Tempered Glass Screen Protector, a Keychain, A Lanyard, a Cap, a Lucky Mini Figurine, a 7-day Ubisoft+ subscription code, and 1-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription code.
