Singapore-based company EPG, whose main business dabbles in the modular data center solutions field, has announced it has earned the BOMBA certification from Malaysia’s Fire and Rescue Department for its containerised modular data center products, marking a significant compliance milestone that places the Singapore-based manufacturer among the earliest in the sector to meet Malaysia’s mandatory fire-safety standards.
The certification validates that EPG’s modular solutions meet both Malaysian Standards and internationally recognised ISO benchmarks, supporting wider adoption at a time when Malaysia is quickly emerging as a preferred destination for AI, cloud, and hyperscale infrastructure investments. This assurance of fire-safety compliance is expected to accelerate the rollout of prefabricated capacity across key markets such as Johor, Klang Valley, and Penang, where operator demand continues to rise.
The approval also aligns with EPG’s ongoing expansion in Johor Bahru, where the company currently runs two manufacturing plants and is building a next-generation smart factory. Scheduled to begin operations in Q3 2026, the RM380 million facility will offer 40,000 m² of advanced production space, employ more than 800 workers, and produce over 2,000 modular units annually to support up to 550 MW of project capacity. With BOMBA certification in place, these Malaysia-built units can be deployed domestically or exported to regional markets including Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia, extending Malaysia’s role in the regional data center supply chain.
An EPG spokesperson said the certification both validates compliance with Malaysia’s stringent safety requirements and boosts customer confidence in its mission-critical solutions, while also signalling readiness for broader ASEAN deployment. The approval fits into EPG’s wider global compliance roadmap as the company pursues additional certifications across Europe and the Middle East, leveraging its Malaysian manufacturing hub as a springboard for international growth.
