A couple of days ago, the father of modern mechanical keyboard switches, CHERRY has announced that they are now shipping the MX Blossom custom-designed switch.
This new model is part of the new lineup that is said to be community-driven, as the world of custom mechanical keyboards and associated parts has skyrocketed in popularity in recent years. Joined by MX Northern Light, MX Falcon, and MX Petal, this new series focuses on bringing a new feeling of linear and tactile inputs that slightly deviates from CHERRY’s classic formula.
As for the MX Blossom, it is a linear switch created to provide 35g of actuation force, with 2mm pre-travel and 3.8mm full travel. For comparison, the “OG” MX Red is at 45, 2mm, and 4mm, respectively. So in theory, the MX Blossom will register faster and bottom out quicker. Despite it being at 3.8mm full travel, it is not contributed by a long pole stem that makes poppier and brighter sounds, but instead, it is closer to the likes of MX Speed.
The switch is made with the MX2A manufacturing process that results in a smoother typing experience, less stem wobble, and an overall fuller sound profile. It is also pre-lubed alongside the use of a better quality spring in barrel shape, alongside that unique color scheme that represents the iconic sakura flower bloom.

CHERRY is pricing it at EU€19.99 per box of 36 switches, and you can place your order on the official website if you have access to that. But as usual, it’s probably better to wait for your favorite keyboard and switch vendors to stock them up so that you can buy them in your local region.
