As CES 2019 draws closer, we can see quite a few obvious leaks which lead us to believe that NVIDIA might probably announce both the GeForce RTX 2060 and RTX GPU with Max-Q design (mobility) during the CES 2019 keynote happening on January 7th, 2018.

The RTX 2080 with Max-Q design was first spotted on Final Fantasy XV Benchmark few months ago, but was later taken down – definitely not a typo. The screenshot below is probably the only reference for the ‘existence’ of the upcoming mobile GeForce RTX GPU for gaming notebooks.

RTX 2080 RTX 2070 RTX 2060 Notebook Leak Benchmark Max-Q Design(1)

According to overclock3d, they spotted the ‘RTX GPU with Max-Q Design’ on quite a number of ASUS gaming notebook that was listed on French retailer pc21.fr website earlier today. The following is the ASUS gaming notebooks spotted on pc21.fr listing that comes with RTX 2060, RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 Max-Q design:

  • ASUS ROG Strix SCAR II
  • ROG Zephyrus S
  • GX735
  • GX535

The information provided from the list is rather limited as of now, but we can assume that it’ll be similar to what we’ve seen from the past Max-Q design for the GTX 10 series GPU(s). Lower performance are to be expected in order to cater for ultra-thin gaming notebooks like the ROG Zephyrus and other similar design, with heat output and battery life taken into consideration.

Do keep in mind that these are the speculations at this stage, so take the information above with a grain of salt for now.
