ASUS Malaysia has opened pre-orders for the ROG Rapture GT-BN98 at the price of RM3,988, and for that price, you can get the only (currently) quad-band WiFi 8 router currently available at retail.
The GT-BN98 series is built on the WiFi 8 framework, and ASUS says its own engineering tests show real performance gains even when paired with existing WiFi 7 devices, so you don’t need to wait for WiFi 8 client hardware to see benefits. New WiFi 8 features like Unequal Modulation and Non-Primary Channel Access are also designed to improve connection stability and cut down on interference as more compatible devices start showing up.
On the hardware side, the router delivers total wireless throughput of up to 30,000 Mbps across its quad-band design, powered by a 2.6GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM to handle demanding network loads. Wired connectivity comes through two 10Gbps ports and four 2.5Gbps LAN ports, and ASUS packed a 16-antenna array into eight external antennas using a 3D structural design, backed by an upgraded thermal system for sustained performance.
