Looks like AMD is going forward in the wireless connection department by cutting the reliance on 3rd party providers on Wi-Fi 6E as their latest creation with MediaTek is just that.

AMD MediaTek Filogic

Developed using MediaTek’s Filogic 330P chipset, the AMD RZ600 series Wi-Fi 6E modules are focused on delivering seamless connectivity towards users within the AMD ecosystem by integrating the module into the brand’s prebuilt desktops and laptops starting next year. These modules are designed to accommodate PCIe and USB signals for modern and smart power management through several optimized sleep states/profiles.

Technicality-wise, the Filogic 330P will support dual standards of 2×2 Wi-Fi 6 (2.4/5GHz) and 6E (6GHz band up to 7.125GHz) together with Bluetooth 5.2 of both standard and BLT modes. Rated for up to 2.4Gbps connection including the new 6GHz spectrum at 160MHz channel, the chipset also contains power amplifiers and low noise amplifiers to optimize power consumption when processing different signals while reducing design footprint so that one solution can be fitted into laptops and desktops of all sizes.

Hopefully, by using in-house parts, the overall price of AMD-powered systems can be slightly reduced and I’ll take any permanent price cuts for laptops and desktops any day.
