Alibaba Cloud has been officially recognised as one of the Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) under the newly launched Selangor Multi-Cloud Services (SMC), a state-led initiative designed to accelerate AI adoption and drive digital transformation across Selangor.
The program, spearheaded by Menteri Besar Selangor (Pemerbadanan) through its subsidiary Smartsel Sdn Bhd (SMARTSEL), was launched during MBI Digital Innovation Day by Selangor Chief Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari. It forms part of the state’s broader Smart Selangor ambitions under Rancangan Selangor Pertama (RS-1) and the upcoming RS-2 framework.
As an appointed CSP, Alibaba Cloud, working with local partner VSTECS Bhd, will deliver secure and scalable multi-cloud solutions to government agencies and state-linked entities. Kun Huang, General Manager of Malaysia at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, said the collaboration reflects a shared vision of building an inclusive, knowledge-driven digital economy, while combining Alibaba Cloud’s advanced technology with Selangor’s digital agenda to make innovation accessible to agencies, students, and entrepreneurs alike.
Alongside cloud infrastructure, Alibaba Cloud is also introducing two major initiatives to broaden AI literacy and accessibility across the state. The first is the ‘Alibaba Cloud AI Toolkit‘, an all-in-one resource that provides up to 1 million free tokens per model through Model Studio, free tier access with promotional credits, and user-friendly datasets and tools designed for startups, SMEs, students, educators, and enterprises. Non-technical users will also have access to free training modules aimed at building practical AI knowledge.
The second initiative, ‘Celik AI Selangor‘, is a free online learning program offering eight foundational courses in AI and cloud computing, with certifications designed to support government staff, educators, and students. The platform is intended to equip grassroots communities and young Malaysians with the skills needed to actively contribute to the state’s digital economy.
