The Acer live stream today has unveiled their latest flagship gaming notebook – the Helios 700. Now, the mindblowing part of this laptop is the sliding mechanism on the keyboard panel, Acer calls it “Hyperdrift Keyboard”.

In normal mode, the device can be used just like any other clamshell notebook. When the need for the extra processing power kicks in, sliding down the keyboard would unleash the full capability of the 4th generation AeroBlade Cooling solution. This unprecedented design is to address the cooling of the core components while keeping the notebook’s thickness in check.

With that being said, what’s running under the hood is the 9th-gen Intel Core i9 processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics. Acer has to specifically remind us it is not a Max-Q chip.

Magforce Keys

The keyboard has yet another trick up its sleeves. Acer calls it the “Magforce Keys”. The linear key switch is able to pick up the level of force user is exerting on the key. In other words, analogue key switches on a notebook. Acer has also mentioned it is user replaceable to the normal switch. So what we can assume as of now is that the Magforce Keys are only available on the WASD cluster.

Pricing & Availability

The Predator Helios 700 gaming notebook will be available in North America in July starting at US$ 2,699.99; in EMEA in July starting at EUR 1,499.00; and in China in May, starting at RMB 11,999.
