Mi MIX: Xiaomi's Flagship-worthy Concept Phone

By: John Diew

Xiaomi today announced the highly secretive concept smartphone - Mi MIX. The naming itself represent's Xiaomi's spirit of trying and experimenting with new concept and ideas, hence the combination of Mi and X.

The Mi MIX is so special in a way that it is almost bezel-less, with 91.3% screen-to-body ratio. Paired with the custom round-edged Full HD 6.4-inch display, the Mi MIX certainly provides one-of-the-kind edgeless viewing experience. What not, a reason to brag among your friends as well.

Due to the edgeless display, the usual placement of the earpiece, proximity sensor and front camera have to be either redesigned or relocated. The earpiece is replaced with cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustics while the traditional infrared proximity sensor is replaced by the ultrasonic proximity sensor behind the screen panel.

The front facing camera has being moved to the bottom right corner of the phone's chin. Just like how the Dell XPS's placement of their webcam at the bottom left of their infamous infinity display.

Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC with two different RAM configurations. 4GB RAM paired with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM paired with 256GB storage.

Keeping everything running is the generous 4400mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.

Now, you can actually buy it as Xiaomi is going to release it in China starting 4th November 2016. Price as below:

RMB 3499 (4GB + 128GB, approx MYR 2150);
RMB 3999 Mi MIX 18k (6GB + 256GB, approx MYR 2450)

Seriously, that is wicked.
